An Illustrious Deliberation during First Panel Discussion on Day II of Induction Program 2018
After the glittering inaugural session of the Induction Program 2018, the second day on July 10, 2018, witnessed an illustrious deliberation amongst distinguished panelists, followed by an intensive interactive session with students. The first session of the day on “Corporate Expectations from Budding Managers” began with evoking the Goddess Saraswati and lighting the ceremonial lamp by Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR along with Chief Guest, the coveted Magsaysay Awardee-Mr. Anshu Gupta, Founder & Director, Goonj, the Key Notes Speaker Mr. Satyakki Bhattacharjee, Chief People Officer, ABP News and eminent guests of honor Ms.Surabhi Dewan, GM-HR, Ashiana Housing and Mr. Pawas Sharma, Sales Head, Oyo Rooms.
Dr. Makkar welcomed the dignitaries and emphasized that the institute is proud to present this excellent opportunity for students to absorb the knowledge disseminated by the distinguished guests. She encouraged students by sharing the story of legendary sculpturist & innovator Michaelangelo and asked students to carve themselves during the two years of PGDM degree to become corporate ready. Mr. Anshu Gupta, during his address, redefined the concept of sustainability and ingrained the sense of responsibility to the society as a committed citizen. The celebrated social entrepreneur discussed the initiative called Cloth for Work started by ‘Goonj’, where villagers work on infrastructure projects providing skill and labor, being compensated in return with clothes and refurbished items of utility. Mr. Satyakki Bhattacharjee presented a vivid differentiator of the definition of roles from the purview of responsibility. This motivated the students to adopt a holistic view of the corporate expectations from them in the near future. Ms. Surabhi Dewan shared with them the expectations from the perspective of HR. She sensitized the students about the importance of sincerity & compassion while being energetic & dynamic. Mr. Pawas Sharma shared his views about the multitasking & dynamic skill sets required by a successful manager. The students ingrained the spirit of transformation with knowledge and updated skill-set.
The first session of Day-2 of the induction program witnessed an outpour of curiosity during the extensive student interaction. The panelists congratulated the students on their extensive participation. While Day-I witnessed the unveiling of Optimization, GLBIMR’s Bi-Annual Journal, the Bi-Annual Magazine of GLBIMR, “Nouvelle” Vol.3 Issue I, was unveiled on the Day-II, in the august presence of the dignitaries and the Editorial team of Nouvelle. While the day ended with much enthusiasm, the eagerness for the coming three days is overwhelming amongst the students. It has indeed been an opportunity to learn and grow with the varied array of subjects uniquely depicted in each panel discussion.
