GLBIMR Human Resource Club Organized “Debate competition” on April 10, 2019

GLBIMR, in its continuous endeavor to give 360 degree holistic development to its PGDM students, Organized “Debate competition” as part of Human Resource Club on April 10, 2019.

“Debate competition” was a structured contest that provided students a striking opportunity to voice their views on the topic”Are Women in India really Empowered”. The competition involved two parties, one for the topic and one against the topic. Other than the participants who are already actively involved in Club activities, this Debate competition was specifically planned for the students who are although eager to come on stage and showcase their talent but rarely participated in public speaking exercises.

The Result of the Contest was as follows:

First Position (Team): Anirudh Sharma, Ashish Kumar
First Position (For the motion): Shashish Kamerikar and Anamika Kumari (First time taken initiative)
First Position (Against the motion): Supriya Anand and Diksha Kumari (First time taken initiative)

Through this competition, while presenting and listening to the arguments, students have got the exposure of different views about the topic, which has widen their perception and sharpen their critical and analytical thinking skills.

All the winners were felicitated during the Workshop on Recruitment & Selection under Expert Talk Series on April 12, 2019, Friday by Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR and Ms. Kavita Dasan, Vice President – Talent Management, DHFL.

GLBIMR clubs are actively engaged in organizing various engrossing activities that develop and sharpen the skills of the students.

In line with the continuous efforts to provide learning platforms to students that can help them acquire exposure to the corporate world, GLBIMR Students and Faculty Members Participated in Women Economic Forum , 2019 held from 11th April -16th April,2019 at Hotel Taj Vivanta, Dwarka, New Delhi.
With connections to 100,000 members and inspiring women across 150 countries, ALL & WEF are among the largest women’s networks offering the widest outreach to women in the spirit of “sisters beyond borders.” With a focus on enhancing mentorship with sponsorship and fostering an ecosystem of sharing and inspiration, resulting in innovative and entrepreneurial collaborations across all levels, energized by a spirit of readiness and responsiveness to support one another.
The mega marquee annual multinational WEF 2019 was held from April 11th to 16th April, 2019 in New Delhi on the theme is “Re-imagining Societies: Reclaiming Humanity With Gender Equality”. It attracted over 2000 women from 120+ countries making it the largest ever diverse global event.
At the Women Economic Forum, our students and faculty members met women entrepreneurs, leaders and businesswomen from across the world as also with industrialists, financiers, advisors, consultants, bankers, government and ministerial officials, diplomats, lawyers, and experts who advised, connected and directed them further for their future career expansion, trade, business, innovation and growth.
We are very proud to share that our Director General Dr. Urvashi Makkar was invited as one of the eminent speakers at the WEF 2019 where she shared her views of Gender Neutrality and importance of learning-relearning-learning. She was also conferred with the highly prestigious award, “Exceptional Women of Excellence” in the forum. It was highly engaging platform for faculty and students. the main sessions on all the days were focused on increasing transparency and enhancing customer expectations, secrets of motivated teams, reclaiming progress with sustainability, developing entrepreneurship abilities, personal and spiritual development along with instilling spark among youth.
It was a very knowledgeable session which helped our students in understanding the innovation and social initiatives taken by the speakers in their respective domain. How even a small change or idea can bring difference to the society at large. The students networked and got connected with the delegates for their future career expansion and growth. It was a highly engaging experience under the CIS Platform.

In continuation to the club activities that foster holistic development, GLBIMR Organized “The Skit Competition” for PGDM students as part of ART & CULTURE CLUB, under the guidance of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR on April 03, 2019 at its Greater Noida Campus.

The objective of the activity was to enhance the personal skills and experiences like confidence, self-presentation, teamwork and collaboration, open mindedness to move beyond boundaries and experiment with different ideas, the ability to cope with criticism and learn from them resulting in a whole new developed, changed and an improved person.

The Result of the Contest was as follows:

Faculty Coordinator, Dr. Alpana Agarwal initiated the activity from planning to execution with great precision and in a systematic manner which led to the huge success of the event.

GLBIMR organized a Workshop on Recruitment & Selection under Expert Talk Series on April 12, 2019 under the visionary leadership of Mr. Pankaj Agarwal, Vice Chairman, GL Bajaj Educational Institutions and Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR. With the objective to apprise the students with the practical aspect of recruitment and selection, the workshop was conducted by Ms Kavita Dasan, Vice President-Talent Management, DHFL.

Dr. Makkar warmly welcomed the resource person Ms Kavita Dasan, and shared that this session would help the students to understand the role of competency mapping while recruiting right people for the job profiles. Ms. Kavita Dasan started the session by stating the importance of hiring right to enhance engagement of the employees in the organisation. She also emphasized the development of knowledge, skills and abilities among the employees to achieve competency outcomes thereby reaching the organisational goals.
The session was highly interactive and left the students very excited to gain much deeper knowledge about recruitment and selection as it is integrated within each functional area of an organization.

It has been a constant endeavor at GLBIMR to provide multi-dimensional platforms to faculty to explore new research areas along with developing understanding of real life corporate scenario. These initiatives are taken under the educational leadership of Mr. Pankaj Agarwal, Vice Chairman, GL Bajaj Educational Institutions and academic orientation of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR. Dr. Anand Rai, Associate Professor , GLBIMR attended Higher Education Summit organized by Indian Express in association with Amazon Web Service (AWS) on March 27, 2019 at Crown Plaza, Mayur Vihar on the theme “The Next (R)evolution in Indian Higher Education”. It was a full day summit which was attended by more than 100 delegates from Industry and academia from all over the country.

The key points discussed and deliberated were the evolving role of technology in improving quality of education, future of education – digitized classrooms, student developed apps, online communities and gamification and technology presentations on some of the most innovative technologies and applications.Professor from IIM Bangalore highlighted how they have used technology and developed Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) in the campus to provide quality higher management education to masses. Representative from AICTE, talked about various initiatives taken by the Regulator to increase Industry and Academia Interface in Technical Higher Education in India.

Various Representatives from Ministry of Skill Development highlighted the importance of Vocational Training and the efforts being made by the Ministry to enhance the quality of training provided by various stakeholders in the country. Overall, it was a great learning experience for the faculty in charge to be part of this summit. Many of the key takeaways would be implemented at GLBIMR in the near future to enhance the knowledge of the students in making them more corporate ready.
