GLBIMR-ians Participated in the Prestigious 58th National Cost Convention 2018 on 16-17 March, 2018
G L Bajaj Institute of Management & Research has its impetus on providing the best learning platform to our management students under the radical guidance of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General. In continuance with our mission of providing excellent Industry Interface, student attended the prestigious 58th National Cost Convention 2018 on 16-17 March, 2018 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The event was organized by The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) on the theme “New India 2022: Role of CMAs from Intent to Action”. The event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu. The Guest of Honour was Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways and Ministry of Coal. The session was addressed by Hon’ble Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Suresh Prabhu. Eminent Speakers and panelists present during deliberations were Mr. Ajay Das – Chief Commissioner Income Tax; Mr. KVR Murthy – Joint Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs; Mrs. Simrit Kaur – Principal, Shri Ram College of Commerce; Mr. Himanshu Rattan – Director, KPMG; Ms. Monica Singhania – Professor, FMS, Delhi University; CMA Ramesh Subramanyam – CFO, Tata Power; CMA Partha Basu – Global Head Finance, Akzo Nobel, Amsterdam and Mr. Naresh Salecha, Principal Executive Director, Ministry of Railways, Government of India.
It was an excellent platform for the students to surmise the emerging issues of economy from the eminent industry leaders and domain experts, top-notch bureaucrats, policy makers and dignitaries from industry, academia and professional bodies. The two days convention was indeed an enriching experience and an exclusive opportunity for GLBIMR-ians to understand the vision of New India 2022 to be able to contribute towards Nation Building.

Expert Talk Series on “Excelling in Life & Coping with Failures” on April 10, 2018
Continuing the legacy of disseminating knowledge relevant to Corporate Readiness, Expert Talk Series at G L Bajaj Institute of Management & Research, Greater Noida, Special Session on “Excelling in Life & Coping with Failures” by Dr. (Prof.) AKS Suryavanshi, Vice Chancellor, SGT University was organized for PGDM Batch 2017-19 on April 10, 2018, under the visionary guidance of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR.
Dr. Makkar highlighted during her address to students that they must aspire big & dream big to achieve great heights in their professional lives; at GLBIMR, students must focus upon achieving excellence to emerge as future leaders. She warmly welcomed the esteemed guest and shared that the energy and ardour that Dr. Suryavanshi possessed is an inspiration and motivation for the budding managers at GLBIMR to achieve beyond their own expectations. During the highly interactive session, two of the most pertinent concerns of the students were addressed in the context of the present competitive era, “Failures and Resignation”. The students discussed about the way forward as professionals who are ready to match their suitability in business organizations and learnt how to thrive on the challenges in their career ahead by planning their knowledge and competency, infusing pear-learning, developing core domain knowledge and being non-judgmental about our competition. Congratulating GLBIMR on the extensive Soft Skills Program, Dr. Suryavanshi expressed it is a pre-requisite to imbibe conflict resolution and gender neutrality as our traits.
GLBIMR-ians were enthralled by the session and instilled the words – “Be sincere and believe in people!”

E-Cell Flying Minds under the aegis of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR, organised the Movie Premiere of “The Pursuit of Happyness” for PGDM 2017-19 Batch on February 28, 2018
Dr. Urvashi Makkar during the premier shared that the movie is based on the life Chris Gardener and his journey through failures in personal and professional life transformed in a successful American businessman, investor, stockbroker, motivational speaker, author, and philanthropist.
During their interaction with Dr. Makkar, the students shared the incidences in the movie were sparks that they will always carry in their heart to trigger motivation. This visual cinematic treat made the students introspect on their challenges and ultimately realize that being “happy” is an illusion as we will always work toward perfects and the never-ending journey of our pursuit of happiness.
