Workshop on “Enhancing Presentation Skills and Creating Effective Presentations”
With an objective to enhance the non-verbal communication and the quality of presentations made by PGDM Batch 2017-19 students, a workshop on Enhancing Presentation Skills and Creating Effective Presentations, was conducted in two sessions.
A revitalizing and energizing breathing exercises preceded the workshop to add a note of positivity. The workshop began with discussing the objectives and take-aways for the students. An interactive video about the presentation skills of charismatic leader Steve Jobs was shared. Students were very participative in both the sessions and shared their learning from the video. Effective skills and body-language were discussed to guide the students about how to carry themselves while making a presentation. The workshop also focused on technical skills needed to create a professional presentation. Important but easily overlooked aspects like having a proper background, consistency of fonts, professionally using animation effects as well as giving the presentation a professional look using headers and footers were explained with the help of DIY guided videos.
Such customized workshop contributes towards the overall developments to make the students effective & dynamic professionals.
Professional Excellence for Corporate Readiness (PECR) Workshop
GLBIMR organized the a 40 hours certification workshop on “Professional Excellence for Corporate Readiness” (PECR) from. The workshop was conducted in three phases starting from August 2016, then October 2016 and the last phase of the workshop was organized on March 30-31, 2017 for the PGDM 2016-18 Batch, under the guidance of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR. The resource persons of the workshop were Mr. Harmeet Singh, Mr. Romy Juneja and Mr. Debashish Das of Unleash Potentia. The workshop focused on enhancing the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) skills of the students. The topics of the GDs were related to current affairs, general awareness and abstract topics, where students need to apply their analytical, theoretical as well as creative thinking. It gave a live exposure to students about cracking selection processes of organizations predominantly Group Discussions and Personal Interviews.
The GDs were recorded and the excerpts were shown to the students, to analyze and improve. Every student was given critical attention and suggestions for their improvement and enhancement. Important tips for cracking the PI, how to make impression on the interviewer and self grooming were also shared with the students. The workshop was highly appreciated and it gave the students, insights of the GD and PI skills.
‘Getting Noticed in a Group’ – One Day Customised Workshop
Group Discussion, Public Speaking and Corporate Communication skills are essential for a successful career. Keeping the same focus, GLBIMR organized a one day Customized Workshop, “Getting Noticed in a Group”, under the guidance of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR for PGDM 2016-18 batch. The resource person of the workshop was Ms Vatsala Agarwal, Eminent HR Consultant.
This workshop focused largely on Group Discussions (GD) skills, which is most of the times an inevitable screening round used by organizations, to gauge the personality traits of a candidate during the Recruitment & Selection process. Therefore, to enhance the GD skills of the students, they were given an array of innovative topics and mock GDs were conducted & recorded. Later these videos were shown to them, to analyse their overall conduct during the GD, and work upon the shortcomings. The workshop honed the GD skills of the students. This workshop was followed by a Speak-up session on March 24, 2017, to de-brief the learning and discuss the overall experience of the workshop. Students came up and shared their learning and feedback. The Workshop improved their ability to think critically, handling disagreement & cross questioning in a group and most importantly improve the confidence to “speak up’’. Such sessions facilitates fast paced leaning with extensive practical exposure.

GLBIMR is an institute known for its innovative pedagogy, where students are nurtured to become great leaders of tomorrow. GLBIMR, under the leadership of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR; organized a 12 hours certification workshop on “Summer Internship to Pre-Placement Offer” in collaboration with Winning Mantra on March 1, 2017, for PGDM 2016-18 Batch. The expert speakers of the workshop were Mr. Pramod Joshi, Founder & Partner, Winning Mantra, Col. A.S.Bedi and Mr. Sudhanshu Hajela, Director, Winning Mantra.
While welcoming the guests Dr. Makkar shared that this Certification Workshop will orient the students towards, how to make a strong impact during their Summer Internship utilizing their Management Skills to get a Preplacement Offer (PPO) and Appreciation Letters. The agenda of the workshop was to sensitize the students about the upcoming Summer Internship Programme and make them corporate ready. The 12 hour workshop will be conducted in two phases; the second concluding session will be on March 8, 2017.
GLBIMR Students participated in Aaj Tak Talk show
Under the stewardship of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General; GLBIMR #PGDM students got a golden opportunity to participate in talk show held on 6th & 7th Dec 2016 at Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi by Aaj Tak. The agenda of the talk show was SurgicalStrike by Indian Army over Pakistan and Demonetization drive. The vibrant guests’ panel at the talk show included Mr. Amit Shah-President, BJP, Ranvir Singh-Actor, Anushka Sharma-Actor, Raju Srivastava-Standup Comedian, Entire team of the leading TV show “Bhabhi ji Ghar par hai”, Prakash Javadekar-Union Minister, MHRD, Vipul D Shah, eminent film writer & Producer, Bharti Singh and Krishna Abhishek of Comedy Circus fame. The event was an extravaganza of Indian Politics, Cinema and Television.
Students of GLBIMR took active participation in the talk show & expressed their views on the topics and also asked questions from the panelist on Demonetization. This talk show enabled the students to understand the brighter & sharper aspects of digital money and the broader prospects of demonetization in expansion of Nation’s Economy.
Through this extended effort of GLBIMR, PGDM students got a chance to be a part of such an effervescent talk show and also understand the impact of demonetization. An event like this contributes in the holistic development of students.
GLBIMR Students @ Aaj Tak –Discussion on Demonetization
Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR management students got a unique opportunity to participate in most popular talk show held on Aaj Tak” on 2nd Dec 2016 at The India Today Group, Film City Noida, The subject of the talk show was “Demonetization”, which is the most discussed topic among public at large.
The eminent panelist at the talk show were Ravi Shankar Prasad current Union Minister holding Law and Justice and Ministry of Information Technology, Dr. Sambit Patra Spokesperson BJP, Meera Sanyal-Aam Aadmi Party speaker,Ashok Lahiri economist, Sudhindra Bhadoria BSP & Ranjeeta Ranjan-Sansad congress. Talk show was anchored by Rahul Kanwal-India TV and Anjana Om kashyap-Aaj Tak.
Eminent speakers discussed the topic on digital cash, how to focus on e-payment and how to check and control flow of black money in economy. Students of GLBIMR expressed their views on the talk show and also asked questions from the panelist on Demonetization. Talk show was attended by around 100 GLBIMR students. Talk show enabled the students to understand the brighter & sharper aspects of digital money and how can demonetization helps the economy to expand. Through this extended effort of GLBIMR, PGDM students got the chance to understand the impact of demonetization & how can e-payment & digital banking can replace cash transactions.
With the objective to develop bright aspiring enthusiastic students into management leaders, change agents in the global arena, GLBIMR takes qualitative initiatives to provide professional platforms ensuring holistic development to its PGDM students. In tandem with their aims and objectives, GLBIMR, under the vibrant leadership of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General; GLBIMR organised a 30 hours Certification Program by Winning Mantra on ‘Placement Readiness Enhancement Program (PREP)’ in its Greater Noida campus. The 30 hours certification started from November 17, 2016 –November 29, 2016. The Expert Speakers for the PREP session on November 17 and November 19, 2016 were Mr. Pramod Joshi, founder and partner, Winning Mantra and Col. Aman Bedi, Director, Healing Touches.
Mr. Pramod Joshi in his invigorating address shared with students Personality Mapping techniques. Col. Bedi motivated the students for the upcoming placement season. He shared the tips for active participation in group discussion and interview under which he highlighted the importance of smart working and effective communication skills. The sessions included real time practice of group discussion and personal interview with detailed and personalized feedback to the students for necessary corrections. Mr. Himanshu Talwar, Head, CRC, GLBIMR concluded the session with a vote of thanks to Mr. Pramod Joshi and Col. Aman Bedi.
