GLBIMR organized 2nd International Conference on “Achieving Sustainable Strategic Advantage” (ICASSA-2k17), on Saturday, September 09, 2017 at its Greater Noida campus, where around 400 International & National delegates participated. The mega event was inaugurated by Mr. Pankaj Agrawal, Vice Chairman, GL Bajaj Institutions, Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR along with eminent guests.

He has 25 years of experience in managing high-performance teams across verticals in India, China, Middle East and Africa. He has worked with globally connected teams with a strong appreciation of cultural nuances across multiple locations. Mr. Babu Vittal – Head HR, Shopclues.com will grace the session as Chief Guest. Mr. Vittal has over 23 years of experience. He has led the HR department at Reliance Communications, and worked as Senior Director, HR, at Flipkart where he managed compensation benefits, performance management, and organization design.

GLBIMR students of PGDM Batch 2017-19 attended the famous “Dhan Ki Baat” show, at Zee Business Studio, Noida, on September 15, 2017, under the Corporate Interface Series (CIS), initiated by Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR. “Dhan ki baat” is a first-of-its-kind talk show on financial knowledge, to help people chose the right path towards financial freedom. The show was hosted by Mr. Vivek Law, a veteran business journalist and the resource person was, Mr. Aniruddha Dange, President, India Infoline Ltd. The show is based on share market trading basics
Our students asked several questions related to share trading, mutual funds, stock market etc from the guest speaker. Such kind of participation makes the students confident in public speaking and interacting with senior guests & speakers. These CIS activities not only raise the confidence level of students, but also keep them more informed about the current affairs & social issues.
GLBIMR Faculty Interacted with Acclaimed Academicians
In constant endeavor to contribute towards the development of Intellectual Capital and to provide insights about latest academic trends, GLBIMR under the academic acumen of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR; organized a series of interactive sessions for the faculty members, with seasoned eminent academicians from the industry. Renowned academicians were invited to the campus, for Faculty Development Series. During the sessions, GLBIMR faculty members were mentored by, Dr. Sanjiv Mittal, Dean and Professor- Marketing, Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi, on September 15, 2017, Dr. Madhu Vij, Professor-Finance, FMS, University of Delhi, Dr. Bindu Gupta, Professor, Human Resource, Institute of Management & Technology (IMT)
Ghaziabad, on September 16, 2017, and Dr. K L Johar, Former Vice Chancellor, GJ University, Hissar, on September 20, 2017.
These highly acclaimed academicians discussed the latest academic challenges and roadmap for the future of higher education in the country, Dr. Sanjeev Mittal laid emphasize on the fact that, teaching is not just a profession, but a passion. He also shared the concept of 3 E’s i.e. Expectations, Emotion & Experience, and importance of having empathy towards the students. Dr Mittal is an acclaimed academician with more than 30 years of rich experience, and several accolades for his contribution in the field of education. Dr Madhu Vij, who carries with her, a rich experience of more than 38 years, and is associated with FMS. She guided the faculty towards the relevance of case study and article discussions, to make the students understand the basic concepts of Finance. She also suggested ‘Knowledge Sharing Sessions’, amongst the faculty members, which has already been initiated at GLBIMR. Dr. Vij stressed on the importance of Interdisciplinary Research.
Dr. K L Johar, shared with the faculty members, his journey from being a student to becoming the Vice Chancellor. He shared his very valuable & insightful views on “Life” and “Integrity”. He suggested that faculty members should never stop learning, as learning is the only concept that becomes the winning mantra in any profession. Dr. Johar, is a very senior & seasoned academician, who is much passionate, disciplined and goal oriented. The contributions of Dr. K.L. Johar, towards the education system in India are commendable. Dr. Bindu Gupta, a highly skilled & accomplished Human Resource academician, shared the intricacies of HR & OB. Dr. Gupta shared, that the biggest challenge any faculty faces, is capturing the students’ attention, and putting across ideas in such a way that it stays with them, long after they have left the class. For this to happen, classroom experience should be redefined, and innovative ideas that make teaching methods more effective should be implemented. She guided the faculty on engaging students during the class.
All the sessions, were highly appreciated by the faculty members, as the sessions provided thoughtful insights regarding effective pedagogy, learning concepts & program delivery methods.
A blazing debate on GST by FINANCE CLUB @GLBIMR
GLBIMR Campus is abuzz with various lively & energetic club activities, where the students are being given diverse opportunities, to not only explore, but also showcase their talent. Organization of such club activities is the momentous overture, initiated by Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR.
The finance club successfully organized a Debate Competition on the topic: “GST – A game changer or a game spoiler”, on September 14, 2017, under the guidance of faculty coordinator, Dr. Anand Rai. Students from both the batches took part in this competition enthusiastically and expressed their views, “for & against” the topic. While contribution of each student was appreciable, the winners of the debate were:

Abhishek Gaur ( PGDM 2017-19) was the winner who spoke in favour of the motion and Neelam (PGDM 2017-19) was the runner up,

Pooja (PGDM 2016-18) bagged the award for speaking against the motion, Satyender Kumar was declared as the runner up.
It proved to be a great learning activity for the students, who also got a chance to enhance their public speaking skills.
