GLBIMR organized 2nd International Conference on “Achieving Sustainable Strategic Advantage” (ICASSA-2k17), on Saturday, September 09, 2017 at its Greater Noida campus, where around 400 International & National delegates participated. The mega event was inaugurated by Mr. Pankaj Agrawal, Vice Chairman, GL Bajaj Institutions, Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR along with eminent guests.

Club Activity – “Mythology to Management” @GLBIMR on September 27, 2017

GLBIMR’s “ Mythology to Management” (M2M) club successfully organized an activity named, “Karmanya-Planning to Execution” on September 27, 2017. Students participated with great enthusiasm and showcased remarkable learning from Indian mythology and its co-relation to current business challenges. Participants analyzed scriptures and great epics like the Ramayana and Mahabharata and explained various management lessons, with their relevance in today’s complex business environment through skit, videos and presentations. Mr. Atul Kumar Arora, led the whole activity, where Dr. Anand Rai and Dr Harsh Pratap , evaluated the performances on the basis of objective and theme, in correlation with mythological relevance, content quality and creativity.

The winners of activity were: Prateek Gupta, Kishan, Shivam and Ranu , while the runners-up award was shared by Harsh Jain, Neelam, Deeksha, Mohini, Ishan, Jyoti, Shalaka, Rahul, Saurabh Chauhan, Gautam and Pooja Sachan. Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR, conferred certificates to the winners and appreciated this initiative. She motivated the students and emphasized, that there is a lot to be learnt from our rich culture and scriptures. These are the best available resource to learn management & strategical lessons. She shared her valuable life experiences and encouraged the students to keep participating in such club activities for positive outlook and broad vision.

GLBIMR Students at the United Nation Global Compact, India Summi

GLBIMR students are provided with numerous platforms to groom themselves, learn and explore. Corporate Interface Series (CIS) is one of the most successful corroboration of the same, under the guidance of, Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR. PGDM Batch 2017-19 students got an opportunity to participate in PEAK – Ruk Jana Nahi, a positivity influenced corporate summit organized by UN Global Compact, India( UNGC) & Plus Approach Foundation, packed with renowned business leaders from across the world, held on 16th September 2017, at New Delhi.

The objective of the programme was to create the passion of positive thought process and enlighten youth of India, because positive minds can lead to a positive society and therefore a positive India. Legendry Cricketer and former captain of the Indian Cricket Team, Mr. Kapil Dev, was the guest of Honour of the event. It was our privilege for the students to listen to the views of prominent speakers like, Professor PS Rathore, Leadership and Life coach, Mr. N. K Goyal, Mrs. Nirmala Singh, Mrs. Neera Pant, Associate Professor of Psychology, Gargi College, University of Delhi, Mr. A.K Mishra, Managing Director , Chanakya IAS Academy Mrs. Helina Selingar and many more. GLBIMR Students participated enthusiastically and had a great learning experience.

With the objective to provide 360 degree development and to enhance employability skills of the students, GLBIMR, under the prudent guidance of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR; provides various learning opportunities to the students. Recently PGDM Batch 2017-19 students participated in AIMA’s Diamond Jubilee National Management Convention, on September 27 & 28, 2017 at Hotel Le Meridian, New Delhi.

The Convention focused on a topical theme of national importance: “Folding the Future In: Reimagining India”, and on day 1 it was addressed by eminent speakers, like Mr. Rajat Sharma, Chairman and Editor-in-chief, India TV, Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highway and Water Resources, Government of India, Mr. Arnab Goswami, Founder& Editor-in-Chief, Republic TV, Swami Ramdev, Yoga Guru and Founder, The Patanjali Group of Institutions, Mr. Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Film Director, Producer, Mr Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, Government of India Ms Rekha Sethi, Director General, AIMA, Mr Sunil Kant Munjal, President, AIMA and Chairman, The Hero Enterprise, Mr. T V Mohandas Pai, Senior Vice President, AIMA and Chairman, Manipal Global Education Services Pvt Ltd, Mr. Sudhir Jalan, Co-Chairman, Diamond Jubilee NMC and Chairman, Neo Foods Pvt. Ltd, MrBabul Supriyo, Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India, and many more eminent guests. The convention was organized to address the main challenges on contemporary issues like: Lack of Digitization and Technology, Lack of Rural Engineering, and Requirement of better Infrastructure etc.

GLBIMR students got an opportunity to interact with distinguished guests, panelists and participants. The percipient sessions by eminent guests and participants gave insightful learning to the students.

Club Activity – ” WISDOMITES ‘B – Plan’ Competition @GLBIMR on September 22, 2017

With an objective to enhance business skills, from planning to implementation, the WISDOMITES Club organized B- Plan Competition, organized at GLBIMR. Various Club activities are integral part of the institute’s innovative learning pedagogy, initiated under the guidance of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR; these activities helps students in exploring a plethora of talent & skills. ‘B – Plan’ Competition”, was led by faculty coordinator, Dr. Chandan Medatwal.

The competition was bifurcated into two phases, where in Phase 1, seven tams participated from around NCR, and proposed their Business Plan, the participants presented a real time Business Idea. In Phase 2, Teams practically demonstrated, their business plan for a time period of four days, where they explored various activities like food stall, kettle corner etc.

The participating teams were evaluated on various parameters, jointly by Ms. Silky Sharma and Ms. Radhika Malhotra.

​​GLBIMR Faculty Interacted with Acclaimed Academicians

In constant endeavor to contribute towards the development of Intellectual Capital and to provide insights about latest academic trends, GLBIMR under the academic acumen of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR; organized a series of interactive sessions for the faculty members, with seasoned eminent academicians from the industry. Renowned academicians were invited to the campus, for Faculty Development Series. During the sessions, GLBIMR faculty members were mentored by, Dr. Sanjiv Mittal, Dean and Professor- Marketing, Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi, on September 15, 2017, Dr. Madhu Vij, Professor-Finance, FMS, University of Delhi, Dr. Bindu Gupta, Professor, Human Resource, Institute of Management & Technology (IMT)
Ghaziabad, on September 16, 2017, and Dr. K L Johar, Former Vice Chancellor, GJ University, Hissar, on September 20, 2017.

These highly acclaimed academicians discussed the latest academic challenges and roadmap for the future of higher education in the country, Dr. Sanjeev Mittal laid emphasize on the fact that, teaching is not just a profession, but a passion. He also shared the concept of 3 E’s i.e. Expectations, Emotion & Experience, and importance of having empathy towards the students. Dr Mittal is an acclaimed academician with more than 30 years of rich experience, and several accolades for his contribution in the field of education. Dr Madhu Vij, who carries with her, a rich experience of more than 38 years, and is associated with FMS. She guided the faculty towards the relevance of case study and article discussions, to make the students understand the basic concepts of Finance. She also suggested ‘Knowledge Sharing Sessions’, amongst the faculty members, which has already been initiated at GLBIMR. Dr. Vij stressed on the importance of Interdisciplinary Research.

Dr. K L Johar, shared with the faculty members, his journey from being a student to becoming the Vice Chancellor. He shared his very valuable & insightful views on “Life” and “Integrity”. He suggested that faculty members should never stop learning, as learning is the only concept that becomes the winning mantra in any profession. Dr. Johar, is a very senior & seasoned academician, who is much passionate, disciplined and goal oriented. The contributions of Dr. K.L. Johar, towards the education system in India are commendable. Dr. Bindu Gupta, a highly skilled & accomplished Human Resource academician, shared the intricacies of HR & OB. Dr. Gupta shared, that the biggest challenge any faculty faces, is capturing the students’ attention, and putting across ideas in such a way that it stays with them, long after they have left the class. For this to happen, classroom experience should be redefined, and innovative ideas that make teaching methods more effective should be implemented. She guided the faculty on engaging students during the class.

All the sessions, were highly appreciated by the faculty members, as the sessions provided thoughtful insights regarding effective pedagogy, learning concepts & program delivery methods.
