GLBIMR Students participated a Half day Workshop on “Social Media-Use and Effect” April 10, 2018 conducted by AICTE
In continuation to our endeavor to provide students corporate workshops, GLBIMR, students attended a Half Day Workshop on “Social Media-Use and Effect” by AICTE at AICTE Auditorium, New Delhi on April 10, 2018, under the aegis of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR. The objective of this workshop was to promote the use of social media for integration of Educational Institutions at the national and global level.
The workshop started with the inaugural address by the Chief Guest, Shri Satya Pal Singh, Minister of State, HRD. Honorable minister talked about the pro and cons of social media by individuals at large. He also emphasized on preserving knowledge by “expressing, sharing and expanding”. According to him, besides science, technology & knowledge, the spiritual knowledge has its own prominence and relevance in the 21st century.
Dr. Anil Sarup, Secretary, School Education, emphasized on relevance of social media for transformative thinking and how positive work of an individual can reach to the masses with lightning speed.
Experts from MyGov discussed how Government of India is promoting its big initiatives in the area of health, education (MOOCs and SWAYAM) and other social welfare schemes through social media tools. They also suggested that each Institution should have an active social media cell, so that they can connect not only with the student community, but also extend to nearby academic institutions & community living to enhance their brand image.
PGDM Students took keen interest in understanding the trends and technologies to equip for future ready.

With much pride and honor, we share that, Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General; GLBIMR was invited as the Session Moderator at the “2nd Asia Pacific Summit & National Education Leadership Awards” organized by Federation for World Academics (FWA), on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Le-Meridien, New Delhi. The summit witnessed participation from Leading Business Leaders, Top Notch Management Fraternity and Academicians, was a huge success.
Dr. Makkar, as the session chair, opened the panel discussion with her insightful views on the topic: “Redesigning Management Education Curriculum for Digital Era”. During the session she brought forward her outlook on, how important it is for the Management Institutes to develop employable & corporate-ready professionals. She highlighted the highly contemporary Skill enhancement program & Value added Courses, GLBIMR has incorporated in its curriculum.
The panelists in the session were, Ms. Shweta Berry, Head of Strategic Alliances- Industry & Academia, Aeris Communications, Porf. Madhu Vij, FMS University of Delhi and Dr. S K Mahapatra, Director- Jaipuria School of Business, Ghaziabad, who shared highly insightful views on the issue, with emphasis on Design Thinking, Global Perspective needed in the curriculum & need of Case Study based pedagogy.
GLBIMR students participated in the summit as event volunteers and handled everything, from registration to stage management, with acute professionalism & grace. Participation in such elite events gives platforms to the students to explore more & learn more.

GLBIMR-ians Learn Through an Insightful Series of “Special Sessions on Communication Skills” by Renowned Corporate Trainer Ms. Pammi Talwar from February 20-March 27, 2018
Dedicated towards the holistic development of the budding managers, G L Bajaj Institute of Management & Research organized “Special Sessions on Communication Skills” for PGDM Batch 2017-19, by renowned Corporate Trainer, Ms. Pammi Talwar, under the guidance of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR.
The sessions commenced from Tuesday, February 20, 2018 and were highly interactive in nature. Ms.Pammi Talwar, who carries with her, more than 35 years of rich experience in Training & Consultancy with leading Corporate Houses, provided a platform of experiential learning for the students. During the sessions, concepts like Confidence Building, Triggering a Positive Attitudinal Shift, Maintaining the Right Posture and Composure for effective Non-Verbal Communication and Role Plays to Successfully Crack Interviews were put into practice by the students.
The 6-Day session concluded on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 with an enlightening interaction with 13 year old Guest Speaker Master Aarav Bindra, who shared his soulful journey of life being a specially-abled gifted prodigy. Aarav, though born visually impaired, presented the students with his insights and a reflection of his invigorating spirit; the enthusiastic batch of GLBIMR was motivated and moved with his simplicity, dedication, discipline, talent and clarity of thought spanning beyond his age. Aarav was accompanied by his mother MS. Amarpreet Kaur; during a heart-warming dialogue with the students, she expressed that she feels special being the mother of a very special and gifted child like Aarav.
Portraying her pride and confidence in Aarav, Ms. Pammi Talwar recited her composition dedicated to him:
इबादत की थी सपनो की, दुआ में ख्वाब थे
क्यू पूर्ण नहीं हो सकते, आसमानो से जवाब मांगे थे!
न गिनकर न सोच्कर मांगे थे हमने तो बस बेहिसाब मांगे थे,
बड़ी शिद्दत से हमने कुछ सपने ख़ास मांगे थे !
कह दो आसमानो से दीवाने आये है, हमे ख्वाबो से इश्क है, इश्क है…..
Dr. Urvashi Makkar shared that the experience of interacting with Aarav and the insights & knowledge that had culminated during these Special Sessions were an enabler for the entire GLBIMR Fraternity to take-up challenges in life and tread on the path perceived difficult, even impossible.

In continuation to Corporate Interface Series, GLBIMR students participated in Annual Management Convention on ‘Rise of India on Global Horizon’ organized by DMA on March 23, 2018, under the ingenious guidance of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR
The convention was designed to provide the participants the knowledge and skills necessary to know the key enablers for growth of India, understand the business and trade relationship in the new changed business order get an insight for preparedness for tapping the opportunities and understand collaborative opportunities and re-orient business strategies.
Hon’ble Minister, Shri. Suresh Prabhu addressed the audience during the inaugural session. Students attended Panel discussions on Health Care & Social Session; Role of Technology in India’s Inclusive Growth; Infrastructure; and Energy Sector. These discussions were led by knowledge leaders from the field to discuss the challenges that need to be met to achieve these goals. The focus was on innovative solutions developed and executed by different stakeholders to expand and strengthen India’s position in these domains.
It was a great experience for the students as they interacted with Industry leaders from Healthcare, Infrastructure, Technology, Entertainment, Food & Agriculture, NGOs, Academicians and Professionals from Public and Private Sector.
GLBIMR Participated in National Conclave on ‘The Future of Talent Acquisition’ Organized by Times Academy of HR Excellence on March 09, 2018
Under the Corporate Interface Series envisaged by Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research, PGDM 2017-19 Batch students participated in the National Conclave on the Future of Talent Acquisition organized by Times Academy of HR Excellence (TAHE) on March 09, 2018.
The conclave was an attempt to explore emerging possibilities in HR domain with special reference to recruitment. The session on “Recruitment Reinvented” introduced a one of its kind 45-minutes certification program for HR aspirants under the umbrella of TAHE to set a benchmark and develop the skills of participants. The expert panelists, with Mr Ramathreya K, Business Head, TimesJobs & TechGiG as the Key Notes speaker, discussed the methods to understand and compare best practices across the industry in terms of recruitment, and to predict the future course of recruitment industry.
The conclave had eminent Industry representation with participation from Ms.Ruby Jha, Assistant Director, Ernst & Young, Mr.Anupam Jain, Director Recruitment–India and Philippines, FIS and Ms.Swati Srivastava, Head – Leadership Hiring, Lenskart.
The event was an enriching experience for the GLBIMR students to learn about innovative ways and future of recruitment. Expert panelists added to the knowledge of participants by sharing various concepts of Artificial Intelligence, Chatbots, Human Brain Mapping, Virtual Reality, and their applications in finding the right person for the right job at the right time. Ms Silky Sharma, Assistant Professor – Human Resource, GLBIMR, successfully cleared the Recruitment Certification program and received appreciation for her performance. All the participating students were awarded with certificate of participation.
The conclave provided a corporate exposure to the students of GLBIMR with an opportunity to interact with industry leaders and more than 100 representations from Talent Acquisition leaders, Consultants, Professionals and Managers from various renowned companies.

GLBIMR organized Workshop on “Summer Internship to Preplacement Offer” on March 19, 2018
Under the erudite leadership of the Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research organized Workshop on “Summer Internship to Preplacement Offer” (SIPO), on Monday, March 19, 2018 for PGDM 2017-19 Batch, conducted by Winning Mantra, a leading training and mentoring academy with more than 12 years of experience of building bridges between the worlds of academia and industry.
The eminent Industry Experts conducting the workshop were Mr. Pramod Joshi, Founder & Partner, Winning Mantra, Col. Aman Singh Bedi, Vishal Mathur and Mr. Sudhanshu Hajela, Director, Winning Mantra. This program is an effort for orienting the students towards making an assertive impact during the Summer Internship, utilizing their fundamental knowledge and management skills to get a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO).
While welcoming the Industry Experts during the inaugural session, Dr. Makkar addressed the students of PGDM Batch 2017-19 stating that the upcoming Summer Internship will be a game-changer for each placement aspirant in the campus. Continuing the legacy of the alumnus of GLBIMR, the students were encouraged to outperform themselves and earn Appreciation Letters from the organizations they are interning with.
Mr. Pramod Joshi spoke about the remarkable energy and positivity the students displayed in their participation and interaction. He stated that the agenda of the workshop was to sensitize the students about the expectations from them as a Summer Internship Trainee wherein they can achieve a creative differentiation setting them apart from the ordinary.
The workshop will be continued with a concluding session on April 02, 2018 to inspire GLBIMR-ians gear up for an impactful journey of experiential learning during their Summer Internship.
