We are delighted to present the recent Editions of our Fortnightly Student Newspaper “The GLB Times”, an initiative of the Student Team of Entrepreneurship Development Cell – Flying Minds, under the visionary guidance of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research, Greater Noida.

We are proud to present a glimpse of the array of activities conducted at our campus. Director General, GLBIMR Conferred with the Award for “Eminent Director of Leading Institutes of India – 2018” by Competition Success Review (CSR) on April 22, 2018, organized at The Le Meridian Hotel, New Delhi.

With exquisite delight we share that Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR, has been conferred with the “Eminent Director of Leading Institutes of India” Award by Competition Success Review (CSR) for the year 2018. The prestigious award has been bestowed upon Dr. Makkar for the sixth consecutive year for her remarkable contributions in the field of Management Education. Mr. S.K Sachdeva, Founder and Chairman of CSR conferred the awards to Dr. Makkar during the mega event which witnessed the presence of leading Academicians and Business Leaders on April 22, 2018, organized at The Le Meridian Hotel, New Delhi.

GL Bajaj Institute of Management and Research aims not only for academic excellence, but for holistic development of students by providing them an extra edge over academic curriculum. Under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General,GLBIMR ,the institute organized multiple activities during the month of December 2017, to provide comprehensive augmentation and corporate exposure to its students and faculty members.

GLBIMR organized a full day session on “Marketing Management” under the ongoing Expert Talk Series by Dr. Sanjiv Mittal, Dean and Professor-Marketing, Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR, was invited as Guest of Honor at the International Programme by NIESBUD.GLBIMR organized 7th MDP on “Transforming Customer Experiences through Digital Marketing, Certification Program on Advanced MS –Excel Analytics by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME). Students of PGDM Batch 2017-19 were sent for various industrial visits with an aim to go beyond academics, as these visits provides student a practical perspective on the working environment. Expression Club of GLBIMR organized “Marcovance”, a blend of Marketing Quiz & AD Mad Show .The month of December was full of learning and knowledge sharing for all.

Expert Talk Series on “Excelling in Life & Coping with Failures” on April 10, 2018

Continuing the legacy of disseminating knowledge relevant to Corporate Readiness, Expert Talk Series at G L Bajaj Institute of Management & Research, Greater Noida, Special Session on “Excelling in Life & Coping with Failures” by Dr. (Prof.) AKS Suryavanshi, Vice Chancellor, SGT University was organized for PGDM Batch 2017-19 on April 10, 2018, under the visionary guidance of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR.

Dr. Makkar highlighted during her address to students that they must aspire big & dream big to achieve great heights in their professional lives; at GLBIMR, students must focus upon achieving excellence to emerge as future leaders. She warmly welcomed the esteemed guest and shared that the energy and ardour that Dr. Suryavanshi possessed is an inspiration and motivation for the budding managers at GLBIMR to achieve beyond their own expectations. During the highly interactive session, two of the most pertinent concerns of the students were addressed in the context of the present competitive era, “Failures and Resignation”. The students discussed about the way forward as professionals who are ready to match their suitability in business organizations and learnt how to thrive on the challenges in their career ahead by planning their knowledge and competency, infusing pear-learning, developing core domain knowledge and being non-judgmental about our competition. Congratulating GLBIMR on the extensive Soft Skills Program, Dr. Suryavanshi expressed it is a pre-requisite to imbibe conflict resolution and gender neutrality as our traits.

GLBIMR-ians were enthralled by the session and instilled the words – “Be sincere and believe in people!”

GL Bajaj Institute of Management and Research is committed towards providing quality education with a flexible learning approach. ‘Optimization’: Journal of Research and Management is another milestone in the pedestal of GLBIMR’s achievements. Its focus is to achieve unparalleled excellence that will bring development to the society and mankind by optimizing their potential. This journal is an avenue for multi-disciplinary, interdisciplinary empirical and conceptual research work dedicated towards advances in contemporary and futuristic research in the area of management.

We at GLBIMR, feel pleasure to invite your contributions in the form of research articles to the Volume 10, Number 2, July-December 2018 issue of our Journal ‘Optimization’: Journal of Research in Management, Listed in UGC with Journal No. (42869).

The journal invites original papers from both academics and corporate practitioners on all areas in business management. Paper may be based upon empirical research, or dealing with new theory/concepts in management that has practical applicability or a case study dealing with a management issue. Case study must be supported with two or more case analysis as well. Book reviews of newly published books can also be sent along with a copy of the book for publication consideration.

To support and endorse distinctive research work, we do not charge the authors for papers submission or printing of the paper in our journal. It is purely an academic venture to promote management research. Research Papers are selected on the basis of blind review.

GLBIMR students participated in Annual Management Convention on ‘Rise of India on Global Horizon’ organized by DMA on March 23, 2018

In continuation to Corporate Interface Series, GLBIMR students participated in Annual Management Convention on ‘Rise of India on Global Horizon’ organized by DMA on March 23, 2018, under the ingenious guidance of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR

The convention was designed to provide the participants the knowledge and skills necessary to know the key enablers for growth of India, understand the business and trade relationship in the new changed business order get an insight for preparedness for tapping the opportunities and understand collaborative opportunities and re-orient business strategies.

Hon’ble Minister, Shri. Suresh Prabhu addressed the audience during the inaugural session. Students attended Panel discussions on Health Care & Social Session; Role of Technology in India’s Inclusive Growth; Infrastructure; and Energy Sector. These discussions were led by knowledge leaders from the field to discuss the challenges that need to be met to achieve these goals. The focus was on innovative solutions developed and executed by different stakeholders to expand and strengthen India’s position in these domains.

It was a great experience for the students as they interacted with Industry leaders from Healthcare, Infrastructure, Technology, Entertainment, Food & Agriculture, NGOs, Academicians and Professionals from Public and Private Sector.

GLBIMR Participated in National Conclave on ‘The Future of Talent Acquisition’ Organized by Times Academy of HR Excellence on March 09, 2018

Under the Corporate Interface Series envisaged by Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research, PGDM 2017-19 Batch students participated in the National Conclave on the Future of Talent Acquisition organized by Times Academy of HR Excellence (TAHE) on March 09, 2018.

The conclave was an attempt to explore emerging possibilities in HR domain with special reference to recruitment. The session on “Recruitment Reinvented” introduced a one of its kind 45-minutes certification program for HR aspirants under the umbrella of TAHE to set a benchmark and develop the skills of participants. The expert panelists, with Mr Ramathreya K, Business Head, TimesJobs & TechGiG as the Key Notes speaker, discussed the methods to understand and compare best practices across the industry in terms of recruitment, and to predict the future course of recruitment industry.

The conclave had eminent Industry representation with participation from Ms.Ruby Jha, Assistant Director, Ernst & Young, Mr.Anupam Jain, Director Recruitment–India and Philippines, FIS and Ms.Swati Srivastava, Head – Leadership Hiring, Lenskart.

The event was an enriching experience for the GLBIMR students to learn about innovative ways and future of recruitment. Expert panelists added to the knowledge of participants by sharing various concepts of Artificial Intelligence, Chatbots, Human Brain Mapping, Virtual Reality, and their applications in finding the right person for the right job at the right time. Ms Silky Sharma, Assistant Professor – Human Resource, GLBIMR, successfully cleared the Recruitment Certification program and received appreciation for her performance. All the participating students were awarded with certificate of participation.

The conclave provided a corporate exposure to the students of GLBIMR with an opportunity to interact with industry leaders and more than 100 representations from Talent Acquisition leaders, Consultants, Professionals and Managers from various renowned companies.
