Certification on Yellow Belt Six Sigma by MSME organized by GLBIMR on Feb 21-22, 2018 #Day1
In its constant endeavor to provide comprehensive success and holistic development to its PGDM students, GLBIMR organised a Certification program on Yellow Belt Six Sigma by Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) on Feb 21-22, 2018 at its Greater Noida campus under the aegis of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR. The key resource person of the event was Mr. Puneet Lamba, a lead trainer for Six Sigma, Knowledge Talks and Mr. Abhishek Mukherjee, founder of Knowledge Talks was the Guest of Honor.
Dr. Makkar in her address welcomed the guests .She inspired the students with her motivating words and advised them to remain updated with new certification programs which are relevant to them for corporate readiness. She highlighted that the Yellow Belt Six Sigma certification will help them to gain a basic orientation of process mapping and management as well as the basic tools within Six Sigma.
The resource person for the workshop, Mr. Puneet Lamba explained the fundamental understanding of Six Sigma presenting the basic concepts of Define, Measure and Control Phase .He also shared the necessary tools like C&E Matrix, Developing Graphs and other learning opportunities for implementation of Six Sigma in the organizations. The pedagogy of the workshop included optimal combination of simulation exercises and real time case studies to make the workshop more interactive.
All the students were enriched by the intellectual progression and were awarded by certificate of participation in the valedictory session. PGDM students of GLBIMR got a clear insight about the concept which will help them to improve their knowledge in operation management.
GLBIMR organizes a Contribution for “Life Changing Causes” with Goonj
In continuation with CSR club activities, GLBIMR in association with GOONJ – NGO organizes a Contribution for – “Life Changing Cause” on February 7, 2018 for giving back to society and for creating awareness among students about act of humanity under the visionary guidance of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR. GLBIMR students visited and contributed to Goonj- NGO along with Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR, Mr. Ashish Patel, Managing Director, MorganFranklin Consulting, McLean, VA, USA and faculty members.
Goonj is a Non-Government organization which undertakes disaster relief, humanitarian aid and community development in parts of 22 states across India. Goonj’s work is not about collecting and distributing material but about changing the age old tradition of giving old material as charity and repositioning it into regular and dignified giving.
Dr. Makkar during her visit shared her experience that Goonj is doing a great work by bringing joy on the faces of the poor and underprivileged people of the society by collecting and contributing old used material to them. GLBIMR students, faculty and staff members contributed one sided used papers, stationary, notebooks, clothes and also contributed money in Goonj Gullak. GL Bajaj Group actively conducts Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities from the perspectives of welfare of Society and this Goonj- NGO was one such step in the same direction. Faculty and Staff Members during their visit were amplified with the feelings of giving.
Live Streaming of PM’s Pareeksha Pe Charcha@GLBIMR on Feb 16, 2018
GLBIMR organized the Live Telecast of the Prime Minister address to the students of all educational Institutions in India, on Friday, February 16, 2018. All Students, Faculty & Staff members witnessed the live streaming of Hon’ble Shri Narender Modi Ji’s address.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi , addressed students’ examination-related concerns in person on February 16 at Talkatora Stadium, where school students from across the country were present. In this “Pareeksha Pe Charcha” PM, told the students how to give stress-free examination. GLBIMR Students also got great mentoring & guidance through this Live Streaming.
Inaugural of Global Talk Series on Strategic Management @ GLBIMR on February 05, 2018
To provide Global exposure to the students, consecutively for the third year, GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research, Greater Noida, is organizing, Global Talk Series on Strategic Management, from February 05-14, 2018, by Mr. Ashish Patel, Managing Director, MorganFranklin, McLean, VA, USA. Mr. Pankaj Agarwal, Vice-Chairman, GL Bajaj Educational Institutions and Dr.Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR inaugurated the Global Talk Series on February 05, 2018. A special session on ”Current Global Issues in Strategic Management” for PGDM Batch 2017-19, was also organized on Day 1 of the Global Talk Series.
During the inaugural ceremony, Mr. Pankaj Agarwal, while welcoming the expert speaker, shared that Global talk Series have been very rewarding in last two sessions and thus, the institute has made it a regular feature of the curriculum. He further added that this customized series would definitely prove to be the transforming phase for the students, as these 10 days would be full of novel information & current insights. Dr. Urvashi Makkar, in her introductory address emphasized that Mr. Patel, who carries with himself a plethora of diversified experience in International & National Marketing Sphere, brings lots of upgraded insights to the campus, making the students versed with the current trends of global market. She further added that, Management Graduates in India needs to enhance & groom themselves a step ahead to improve their contributions in the economic growth and development of the nation. During the special session, Mr. Ashish Patel discussed at length on the topic: “Digitization – a buzz word, or a tool for empowerment & job opportunities”. He proposed to share various business challenges & strategies like Blue Ocean, Porter 5 forces, Delta model etc, based on consumer preferences, organizational values, technology and social tribulations, in coming days. He will be sharing several practical examples with students for better understanding
There is a great zeal & enthusiasm in the students, regarding the series, and they are looking forward to get the maximum out of these 10 days of learning. The Global Talk series will raise the academic & intellectual quotient of the students by providing brilliant insights related to global marketing & research platforms which will help them explore various opportunities. GLBIMR is preparing the students for Global Competitiveness and participation in Global Talk series will eventually help them score good positions in Summer Internship & Final Placement drives.
A soulful harmony of Classical Dance & Music at GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research by SPIC MACAY
A spectacular cultural evening was organized at the leading management institute, GL Bajaj Institute of Management & Research, in association with SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) on February 6, 2018. Dr Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR, along with the artists’ from SPIC MACAY inaugurated the grand event with evoking Goddess Saraswati. Smt. Malti Shyam, a legendary Kathak Artist from Lucknow Gharana, was the lead performer of the event, accompanied with leading Tabla artist, Shri Suraj Nirwan, Shri Santosh Sinha, Eminent Vocalist & Harmonium player and Ms. Yamika Mahesh. Dr Makkar in her inaugural remarks emphasized that, Indian Classical Dance & Music is one of the most expressive forms of art, and it is imperative for the students to experience the rich Indian Cultural Heritage, she further shared that SPIC MACAY is a revolution of Indian classical performing arts, intended to enrich the quality of formal education by increasing awareness about different aspects of Indian heritage and inspiring the young mind to imbibe the values embedded in it.
A mesmerizing performance of various forms of Kathak, by Smt Malti Shyam , left the audience awe struck & spell bounded. Malti Shyam went from strength to strength. “kanhaa kaahe chede bansuriya” making even Brijbhoomi glow, was evoked through elegantly tailored dance, with all kathak ingredients incorporated. In the ultimate abstraction of Krishna consciousness manifesting in the blue clouds, the rain, the call of the flute, the dance surpassed in masterly, involved presentation. It was a perfect blend of harmony depicting a beautiful conversation between mind, body & soul. Suraj Nirwan, Tabla artist charmed everyone with his captivative perfection on the instrument, his “rela” performance, truly recreated the sound of moving train in the auditorium. Soulful melody of Santosh Kumar Sinha & Yamika Mahesh, enthralled everyone, bursting the audience in multiple rounds of applauds for the artists.
More than 300 people including, several eminent personalities from Administration, Academia, Corporate, Politics and Media graced the spectacular event with their presence. GLBIMR concluded the day with a promise of organizing more such events.

With much pride and honor, we share that, Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General; GLBIMR was invited as the Session Moderator at the “2nd Asia Pacific Summit & National Education Leadership Awards” organized by Federation for World Academics (FWA), on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Le-Meridien, New Delhi. The summit witnessed participation from Leading Business Leaders, Top Notch Management Fraternity and Academicians, was a huge success.
Dr. Makkar, as the session chair, opened the panel discussion with her insightful views on the topic: “Redesigning Management Education Curriculum for Digital Era”. During the session she brought forward her outlook on, how important it is for the Management Institutes to develop employable & corporate-ready professionals. She highlighted the highly contemporary Skill enhancement program & Value added Courses, GLBIMR has incorporated in its curriculum.
The panelists in the session were, Ms. Shweta Berry, Head of Strategic Alliances- Industry & Academia, Aeris Communications, Porf. Madhu Vij, FMS University of Delhi and Dr. S K Mahapatra, Director- Jaipuria School of Business, Ghaziabad, who shared highly insightful views on the issue, with emphasis on Design Thinking, Global Perspectivee needed in the curriculum & need of Case Study based pedagogy.
GLBIMR students participated in the summit as event volunteers and handled everything, from registration to stage management, with acute professionalism & grace. Participation in such elite events gives platforms to the students to explore more & learn more.
