He has 25 years of experience in managing high-performance teams across verticals in India, China, Middle East and Africa. He has worked with globally connected teams with a strong appreciation of cultural nuances across multiple locations. Mr. Babu Vittal – Head HR, Shopclues.com will grace the session as Chief Guest. Mr. Vittal has over 23 years of experience. He has led the HR department at Reliance Communications, and worked as Senior Director, HR, at Flipkart where he managed compensation benefits, performance management, and organization design.

In constant endeavor to contribute towards the development of Intellectual Capital and to provide insights about latest academic trends, GLBIMR under the academic acumen of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR; organized a series of interactive sessions for the faculty members, with seasoned eminent academicians from the industry. Renowned academicians were invited to the campus, for Faculty Development Series. During the sessions, GLBIMR faculty members were mentored by, Dr. Sanjiv Mittal, Dean and Professor- Marketing, Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), New Delhi, on September 15, 2017, Dr. Madhu Vij, Professor-Finance, FMS, University of Delhi, Dr. Bindu Gupta, Professor, Human Resource, Institute of Management & Technology (IMT)
Ghaziabad, on September 16, 2017, and Dr. K L Johar, Former Vice Chancellor, GJ University, Hissar, on September 20, 2017.

These highly acclaimed academicians discussed the latest academic challenges and roadmap for the future of higher education in the country, Dr. Sanjeev Mittal laid emphasize on the fact that, teaching is not just a profession, but a passion. He also shared the concept of 3 E’s i.e. Expectations, Emotion & Experience, and importance of having empathy towards the students. Dr Mittal is an acclaimed academician with more than 30 years of rich experience, and several accolades for his contribution in the field of education. Dr Madhu Vij, who carries with her, a rich experience of more than 38 years, and is associated with FMS. She guided the faculty towards the relevance of case study and article discussions, to make the students understand the basic concepts of Finance. She also suggested ‘Knowledge Sharing Sessions’, amongst the faculty members, which has already been initiated at GLBIMR. Dr. Vij stressed on the importance of Interdisciplinary Research.

Dr. K L Johar, shared with the faculty members, his journey from being a student to becoming the Vice Chancellor. He shared his very valuable & insightful views on “Life” and “Integrity”. He suggested that faculty members should never stop learning, as learning is the only concept that becomes the winning mantra in any profession. Dr. Johar, is a very senior & seasoned academician, who is much passionate, disciplined and goal oriented. The contributions of Dr. K.L. Johar, towards the education system in India are commendable. Dr. Bindu Gupta, a highly skilled & accomplished Human Resource academician, shared the intricacies of HR & OB. Dr. Gupta shared, that the biggest challenge any faculty faces, is capturing the students’ attention, and putting across ideas in such a way that it stays with them, long after they have left the class. For this to happen, classroom experience should be redefined, and innovative ideas that make teaching methods more effective should be implemented. She guided the faculty on engaging students during the class.

All the sessions, were highly appreciated by the faculty members, as the sessions provided thoughtful insights regarding effective pedagogy, learning concepts & program delivery methods.

We feel highly elated in sharing that, one of our students, Ishan Mudhgal of PGDM Batch 2017-19, has received a Scholarship Grant of Rs 2 Lakhs (Rs. 1 Lakh each year), from Capital First Ltd, under the ongoing Scholarship Program, as part of CSR initiative, for which GLBIMR has tied up with Capital First Ltd.Ishan has been selected by the jury of Capital First, based on the guidelines of this Scholarship program.
We congratulate Ishan Mudhgal and wish him success.
Earlier, two more students of PGDM Batch 2017-19, Hira Ovais & Shrishti Singh, have received this elite scholarship from Capital First. GLBIMR is hopeful, that more students will get the scholarship in the coming days, and get benefited by the great initiative.

ICASSA2k17 – Corporate Glitterati Speaks

GLBIMR organized 2nd International Conference on “Achieving Sustainable Strategic Advantage” (ICASSA-2k17), on September 09, 2017 at its Greater Noida campus, where around 400 International & National delegates participated, from more than 15 countries like USA, Germany, Egypt, Nambia, Romania, Srilanka, Kenya, UAE, Thailand, Ghana etc. The Mega event was organized under the visionary guidance of Mr. Pankaj Agarwal, Vice Chairman, GL Bajaj Educational Institutions and Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR.
More than 100 research papers were presented in the technical sessions which brought together academicians, researchers, practitioners and research students from around the world to discuss how to achieve that balance between strategical innovations & sustainability of organizations. GLBIMR, once again set a new benchmark in reinventing management education with research orientation.

GLBIMR successfully organized a five days long Induction Program for PGDM Batch 2017-19 from July 10-14, 2017 on the theme- “Corporate Expectations and Insights for Aspiring Managers”.
The Induction Program witnessed enlightening sessions by eminent expert speakers from corporate & academics. Assortment of creative & informative Club Activities @GLBIMR

GLBIMR Clubs are very ardently organizing multiple activities every week. GLBIMR’s Nature Club organized, “The Nature Photography Competition”, on the theme: “International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer”, on September 16, 2017. 59 students of PGDM Batches 2016-18 & 2017-19 participated in the event and submitted the original photographs of landscapes, wildlife and plants. Faculty Coordinator, Dr. Harsh Pratap Singh, led the whole activity. The judges of the event were Dr. Anand Rai and Dr Chandan Medatwal, who evaluated the entries on the basis of three parameters i.e. Creativity, Technical Excellence, and Uniqueness of Picture.

The winner of the contest was Rahul Kumar Singh (PGDM 2017-19), who bagged the ‘Best Picture Award’, while the runners-up award was shared by Raj Kumar Sahani , Divyanshu Agarwal, Mritunjay Kumar and Abhinav Srivastav.

Concurrently on this day, the Creativity Club of GLBIMR: Thinking Hats, organized “मंथन”. “मंथन”, which means brainstorming, was conceptualized and steered by, Ms. Parul Yadav, the faculty coordinator of Thinking Hats. The activity was distinctly categorized into two rounds, viz
ROUND 1 – Outside the Box
The first round Outside the Box was a Question-Answer round. A Question was shown and the participants had to give creative, out of the box answer.
ROUND 2 – Bend It Shape It
In the second round, each team was given a unique prop, which they had to use in an innovative manner.

21 teams participated in the activity, wherein the judges, Dr. Anand Rai & Ms Radhika had a tough time deciding the winners. The winners were as follows:
1st Prize -Rahul Rout , Ravi KantTiwari and Shubham Pathak
1st runners-up – Kajal Kumari , Mohit Kumar, Chirag Mendiratta and Suresh Kumar
2nd runners-up – Divyanshu Aggarwal, Ishan Mudghal, Naveen Pratap Singh and Dipanjan Ghosh

The winners of both the club activities were later conferred with certificates, by Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR & Dr. Bindu Gupta, Professor, Institute of Management & Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad, who is a member of the Academic Advisory Board of GLBIMR. Dr. Makkar congratulated the winners and also shared that the advantages of participating in these activities are multiple, she emphasized that these activities help students in learning social skills, relationship-building, time management, commitments, developing self esteem & also exploring a plethora of interests. GLBIMR focuses on, developing intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills, students need to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. This, in turn, helps them to do better academically and be better prepared for the next stage in their life.

Impromptu – GLBIMR’s extempore competition by the UNscripted Club on September 16, 2017

Amidst the on-going exhilaration of various club activities, the Unscripted club successfully organized an extempore competition, titled –Impromptu on September 16, 2017 for both the batches of PGDM Program. As the name suggests; the competition was to evaluate the best speakers in a spontaneous extempore on the given topic. Ms. Daitri Chatterjee Tiwary was the faculty in charge for this activity, with an objective to enhance the communication skills of the students.

The Judges of the contest were Ms. Parul Yadav, Dr. Chandan Medatwal and Ms. Daitri Chatterjee Tiwary, who evaluated the contestants on three parameters: English Proficiency, Content and Fluency. The winners were: Sangeeta Yadav (PGDM 2016-18), who won the title of Best Speaker – Impromptu, while Naveen (PGDM 2017-19) and Kanika Garg (PGDM 2016-18), were declared Mr. Impromptu and Ms. Impromptu respectively. The titles were conferred to the winners by Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR, during the valedictory session, in the presence of Dr. Bindu Gupta, Professor, Institute of Management & Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad & Academic Advisory Board Member, GLBIMR. Dr. Makkar congratulated the winners and motivated them to participate more enthusiastically in all activities. She emphasized that, from strengthening the mind, to promoting better time management skills, club activities would help students succeed in much more than just their academic endeavors.

The activity was highly appreciated by one and all; UNscripted Club looks forward to organize, more such apropos activities in the coming days.
