Joint Talk Series organized by GLBIMR & DMA on “Branding Imperatives in the Social Era” on October 18, 2016

With the aim of providing holistic development to the management fraternity, GLBIMR under the patronage of Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General; GLBIMR had collaborated with Delhi Management Association (DMA) to conduct a series of joint talks. The second joint talk of the series was organised on “Branding Imperatives in the Social Era” on October 18, 2016 at DMA Conference Hall, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Mr. Kamalendu Bali, Sr. Director, Concentrix and Dr. Urvashi Makkar were the Session Chairperson. Mr. Rajan Pandhi, Director, Delhi Management Association was the convener of this session. Dr. Makkar expressed her gratitude towards Mr. Rajan for initiating this talk series, which is facilitating in dissemination of knowledge.

While welcoming the delegates from different corporate houses, Dr. Urvashi Makkar elucidated the importance of branding in the Social Era. She highlighted that branding has become synonymous with marketing content,as means to promote as it is with establishing credibility, seeding loyalty and engaging conversion. Dr. Makkar said that social media is also playing an important factor in affecting the choices of the consumers. She quoted that, “There’s also a blurring between media and brands. Brands are becoming publishers and content marketers. So for brands as well as media, the goal is to engage an ‘audience’ or group of customers.

The Expert speaker, Mr. Bali is an accomplished and result oriented senior leader with 24 years of rich experience across operation and technology start up, BPO Solution, Government Relationship and Business Development. He has displayed proven results across key areas of Revenue targets, Policy influencing for IT investments and managing high performance teams across verticals in India, China, Middle East and Africa. He enlightened the session with thought provoking views on Branding Imperatives and how the social media plays an important role in designing the strategy to establish their brand in the market.

In this round table talk more than 30 corporate delegates participated and had an enlightening, brain storming session on “Branding Imperative in the Social Era”. The preceding joint talk of this series was on “Innovations in Technology: Guide Map to Global Competitiveness” in September, 2016 by Mr. Ashish Patel, Director, Morgan Franklin Consulting, USA.

Excellence in Teaching Award to Director General GLBIMR by “Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasang”, Uttar Pradesh

We feel honoured while sharing that Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR has been bestowed with another prestigious award for Excellence in Teaching, by “Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasang”, Uttar Pradesh; in recognition of her exemplary contributions towards improving the quality of education, innovation, research and development. The Chief Guest of the event, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State of Culture and Tourism, Government of India conferred the prestigious award to Dr. Makkar. These awards recognize the contribution of Educational pioneers who have demonstrated significant leadership in the Education Community.

Dr. Makkar in her address expressed her gratitude to the team of“Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasang”. She highlighted that this achievement would not have been possible without constant support of Mr. Pankaj Agarwal, Vice Chairman, GL Bajaj Group of Institutions. She also shared that recognitions like this will surely make her more passionate to work an extra mile for the upliftment of higher education in the country.

The glittering award ceremony witnessed delegates from senior government officials, leading industrialists, eminent academicians, researchers, civil societies and top corporate houses.

CSR-GHRDC B-School Survey 2016 Ranks GLBIMR 13th amongst Top B-Schools.

While approaching towards new heights of academic excellence, GLBIMR has been ranked 13th amongst Top B-Schools of Eminence, in Novemeber 2016 edition of CSR. GLBIMR has also been Ranked 7th in Uttar Pradesh amongst Top B- Schools State Ranking.

The program witnessed the participation of various, Vice Chancellors, Chairmen, Directors from leading Universities and Institutes from India. In today’s education system, the need to establish a culture of collaboration and accountability is greater than ever. This leadership development program was established to help leaders attain improved performance by applying proven management concepts to the unique challenges of their universities and institutes that can help in leading organizational change, foster a culture of creative thinking, and contribute to the Institute’s success. This leadership program gave insights about Transformational Learning v/s Informational Learning, Institutional Advancement, Leadership Transitions, Fundraising & Friendraising. During Higher Education Leadership Program, all delegates were compelled to invigorate about- breaking the mental moulds, learning to unlearn, understanding the underlying challenges and issues in Indian higher education system in broader perspective vis-a-vis US system leading to opening of many windows in strategic thinking. It also helped in understanding the power of re-framing, frame breaking and multi-frame thinking to identify the ‘Black Swan’ situations in organisations which is the need of the hour today to master the art of choice and power. The Leadership Program helped the participants in formulating a holistic approach to identify problems, formulate solutions & adapt to change, build strategic skills for effective decision-making, strategy development, and implementation. “Speak –up” Session @ GLBIMR at the end of PECR workshop

“Speak –up” Session @ GLBIMR at the end of “Professional Excellence for Corporate Readiness” (PECR) workshop on October 15,2016 GLBajaj GLBIMR BestBschool PGDM BSchool MDP In order to provide an extra edge over academic curriculum and to provide holistic development to its PGDM students GLBIMR organized a “Speak-Up Session” at the end of “Professional Excellence for Corporate Readiness” (PECR) in association with Unleash Potentia on October 15, 2016. The 60 hrs PECR workshop concluded with completion of its second phase on October 15, 2016. This was yet another initiative taken by Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR to enhance public speaking and communication skills amongst the PGDM students. The purpose of this “Speak UP Session” was to get an insight of the views, outlook, opinion and learning of the students from the Professional Excellence for Corporate Readiness workshop. Overwhelming 100% participation from the students was witnessed. All the students were eager to speak out their mind and came to the dias, which shows the success of this program.



Management Development Program on “Talent Management

Management Development Program on “Talent Management- A Heart of Transcendence in Knowledge Economy” @ GLBIMR on October 15,2016 GLBajaj GLBIMR BestBschool PGDM BSchool MDP In its constant endeavor to disseminate the intellectual knowledge and provide platform for industry and academia to work for the holistic development of management professionals; GLBIMR organised an MDP on “Talent Management- A Heart of Transcendence in Knowledge Economy” on October 15, 2016, Saturday at GLBIMR Campus. This is yet another remarkable initiative taken by the institute under the visionary guidance of Mr. Pankaj Agarwal, Chairman, GL Bajaj Group of Institutions and Dr. Urvashi Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR.The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Rishi Raj Singh, International Training Program Director, NIESBUD, Govt. of India and Mr. Kamalendu Bali – Director-Solutions, Concentrix, Gurgaon was the key resource person. The event witnessed participation of more than 100 delegates from various corporate houses and academia. Dr. Makkar, Director General, GLBIMR also welcomed the chief guest and delegates. She emphasized on the way this program will help the organization gain an understanding of the intricacies of talent management like talent planning, talent acquisition, employee on- boarding and integration, performance management, individual development etc. Participation Certificate were conferred to all the delegates The event was very successful. This MDP set new heights of academic excellence for GLBIMR.
